Tunuyán

Tunuyán, land of apples, located in the Mendoza oasis known as Uco Valley, delights the senses with its beauties and flavors. As it could not be otherwise, it focuses its tourism proposal on the Manzano Histórico, a privileged area for its beauty.

Culture, history, nature and adventure give Tunuyán its particular and seductive mixture. Tourism is attracted by its captivating landscapes, its valleys, mountains, streams, lakes, flora and fauna, fruit trees. Everything adds its attraction to the magnificent Tunuyán, joining a proposal that ranges from the most peaceful contemplative ride to the most challenging high altitude sport. It has excellent services, hotels, cottages, cabins, inns, regional meals, guided excursions and a great variety of tourist circuits, all of which harmonize the beauty of the surroundings with the comfort of the visitor. It is located in the west center of the province of Mendoza, about 80 km from the City of Mendoza. It limits to the north with Tupungato and to the south with San Carlos.

Tunuyán offers to the tourist landscapes with valleys and streams of unparalleled colors and shapes, its culture, witness of aborigines, immigrants, and liberating deeds. It divides its assets in these circuits:

* Wine Tour *
With the framework of the Cordillera de los Andes, this circuit includes guided tours to wineries and tastings of internationally awarded artisan wines.

* Cultural Tourism *
This circuit is made up of museums, artistic exhibitions, historical sites, photographic exhibitions. It is possible to visit the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Congress and Exhibition Center, the Exhibition of San Martin´s belongings, the Archaeological Museum, the Return to the Fatherland Monument.

* Rural Tourism *
For tourists, it is a unique experience to appreciate tradition, landscape and the cordiality of the locals in the calm that the field gives, with horseback riding, visits to wineries, a craft brewery, fruit establishments, fruit farms (apples, peaches, pears, and cherries). Taking this tour, they can enjoy organic fruits collect, folklore dancing, crafts, homemade jams workshops, as tasting honey and typical foods too.

* Religious Tourism *
Tunuyán has an important historical-religious heritage, where the route fuses cultural richness, uniqueness of the landscape and spiritual peace.
In this tour there are historical chapels which are more than two hundred years old, such as San Judas Tadeo Chapel, La Inmaculada Concepción, Santa Rosa de Lima, San Antonio, San Cayetano. You can also see the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen, where it is the Cristo Roto, a relic of about four hundred and fifty years. At Manzano Histórico reservation, there you can visit the Historical Apple Tree, the Christ of the Brotherhood, Via Crucis de la Montaña and you can participate of the Virgin of Copacabana fest.

* Adventure Tourism *
In Tunuyán it is possible to enjoy: ascents to the Punta Negra hills, to Mesón San Juan (6050 meters above sea level) or to Torrecitas. You can also do paragliding at El Manzano hill, trekking in the Chorro de la Vieja area, excursions to Laguna del Campanario, climbing in Cajón de Arenales, horseback riding in the San Martin´s Route and the Portillo Argentino, a path to Chile used by aborigines, religious, muleteers, European travelers, according to chronicles of Jesuits or even the testimony of Charles Darwin, who went through it in 1935.

* Manzano Histórico *
This historical site of 1500 hectares is located 40 kilometers from the City of Tunuyán and 1200 meters above sea level. In the vicinity there is an important salmon fish supplier station to the main mountain streams of the province. It is possible to stay in campsites, cabins, and stock up on groceries and restaurants in the area.
Amidst a stunning natural setting, it is the Monumento del Retorno a la Patria, which was erected in memory of the meeting of Colonel Olazábal and General San Martin, on his return from Guayaquil.

* Cristo de la Hermandad Tour *
Sculpture made by the artist Luis Javín Sisara with a golden oak wood that was more than 150 years old and was from land owned by the Argentine Army in La Remonta - Campo Los Andes - Tunuyán. Located at the intersection of RP N ° 89 and RP N ° 94, it is 9 mts height and year after year it gathers thousands of faithful during the celebration of the Via Crucis with the imposing frame of the Andes Mountain Range.
